Not Forsaken

When everything in the world changes, God remains the same and His Word never changes. Permit me to share with you one of the comforting promises of God:
I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread. [Psalm 37:25 – ESV]

David in his old age pondered back at his chaotic life and concluded—that even when he looked over his right or left shoulder and saw no one to care for him (Psa 147:4), God had been with him all the way in every event of his life. This is how he realized that faithfully God had cared for him during his entire life. Surely, dear friend, God never forsakes His own.
You and I may want to quit striving in life or stop getting older, but this reality will never vanish. Getting older is the path to progression in life toward our final destiny. Paul reminds us that although the outward man is perishing, the inward man is being renewed with time. Day after days, the body gets older, but the spirit is becoming more like Christ toward glory.
Jesus told His disciples before ascending to heaven, “behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:20). You can be sure, dear reader, that God is with you if you are hidden in Christ. He will never abandon you.
You may be facing adverse circumstances right now; however, if Christ is your Savior and you are living for Him, rest assured that God will satisfy your every need. “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:19). God will satisfy you so that you don’t have to seek help from anyone else except in Him.
Commit your life to Christ, and, unexpectedly, you will be surprised by a joy that prompts you to repeat these words of David, “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”
